How to transfer a domain from your Namecheap Account to another Registrar

Learn how to transfer a domain from your Namecheap Account to another registrar by supplying the other party with the Authorization Code for the domain.

To transfer your domain name from your namecheap account to another registrar, you must supply the receiving party with the Authorization Code. You can get the code from the dashboard of your Namecheap account. Make sure you only give the Authorization Code to the other party after you have been instructed to do so by Escrow.com, when the funds are secured in our escrow account.

If the buying party is receiving the domain into their Namecheap account, you should perform a Change Ownership instead. Find out how to initiate a Change Ownership in our guide

How to obtain the Authorization Code for your domain

  1. Log in to your Namecheap account.
  2. On the Dashboard tab, click Manage next to the domain you wish to transfer.
  3. If the domain is locked, click Unlock.
  4. Click Auth Code.
  5. In the Get Auth Code modal, click Send Code
  6. You will receive an email with the Authorization Code for the domain.

To complete the transfer, send the code to the buyer using your registered Escrow.com email address. After the buyer has initiated the domain transfer from their registrar, you will receive an email from Namecheap, asking you to confirm the transfer. Click the authorization link in the email to complete the transfer.
