Is the Seller required to transfer the domain to the Buyer's registrar?
In some cases, a Buyer may use a different registrar than the Seller, in which case a transfer between registrars may be required.
Alternatively, if both parties come to an agreement to complete the transfer at the current registrar via a “push” transfer/account change, then the domain can be transferred to an account registered by the Buyer at the same registrar.
This can be a common occurrence if, for instance, the domain is under an ICANN-imposed 60-day transfer lock, which prevents the Parties from transferring a domain to another registrar until the lock expires.
If you are uncomfortable with this manner of transfer, our Domain Concierge team is here to help.
